Count down to the good stuff.
Not Long Now turns the things you're looking forward to into big, bold countdowns on your Home Screen, Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. No account, no sign-up, and everything stays on your iPhone.
Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, and search for Not Long Now. Pick the small or medium size. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customise, choose the Lock Screen, then tap the widget area.
Touch and hold the widget and tap Edit Widget. Choose a countdown and whether to count in days, sleeps or weeks. If you don't pick a countdown, the widget always shows whichever one is soonest and moves on by itself.
Widgets update themselves at midnight. If one looks out of date, open the app once and it will refresh. If it still looks wrong, check the date and the All day setting on that countdown.
In the final 24 hours before a countdown, open the app and a live, ticking countdown appears on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. It's a Pro feature, and you can turn Live Activities off in Settings. iOS limits how long a Live Activity can run, so it may need the app opening again on the day.
Check that notifications are allowed for Not Long Now in the iPhone Settings app, and that the reminders are switched on for that countdown (one week before, one day before, and the morning of).
Free includes 5 active countdowns, two photo backgrounds at a time, 3 poster themes, 28 app themes, Home Screen widgets, sharing and reminders. Pro adds unlimited countdowns, a photo on every countdown, all 9 poster themes, every app theme (including the neons), Lock Screen widgets and Live Activities. Choose yearly (with a 3-day free trial) or a one-off lifetime unlock.
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases, making sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
Open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Not Long Now. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next year. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Open the countdown, tap the share button and choose Send to a friend (or swipe left on it in your list and tap Share). Your friend taps the link to add it to their own app. It's a copy, so you can each rename or recolour it. If it has a photo, that comes along too as a small countdown file: your friend taps it to add the countdown with its photo.
Go to Settings, then Appearance. Choose from 36 themes in nine styles, from Risograph print-shop inks, postcards and sticker club to neon, pastel and winter. Each countdown keeps its own poster colour.
Swipe left on it in your list (or touch and hold it) and tap Delete. Changed your mind? Tap Undo straight away.
When you make a countdown, switch it to Days since and it counts up from a date instead: days together, days sober, days since you moved. You'll get a nudge every 100 days and on each anniversary.
Yes. Tap + and choose From Calendar at the top. The app asks for calendar access the first time, lists your upcoming events, and fills in the countdown for you. Events are only read on your device.
Yes: "How long until Iceland trip in Not Long Now?" (use your countdown's name). Countdowns also show up in Spotlight search, and there are actions in the Shortcuts app.
Yes. If you're signed in to iCloud on both devices, your countdowns stay in sync automatically. Check Settings → Sync in the app.
Yes: Settings → Reminders → Reminder time. Each countdown can also have milestone nudges (100 days to go, one month to go, halfway there) switched on or off.
Yes. With iCloud on, they're kept in your private iCloud and sync to your other devices, so a new phone gets them back. They're also included in your normal device backup.
